Rick Plotkin represents clients in civil and complex commercial litigation with a focus on the real estate sector. His expertise includes business litigation, landlord-tenant disputes, collections and foreclosures, real property litigation, employment law, and insurance coverage. A seasoned trial lawyer with a unique depth of perspective, Rick manages a diverse portfolio of litigation matters. He has tried nearly 100 jury and non-jury trials over his thirty-year career, many while serving for over five years as assistant state attorney in the Jacksonville State Attorney’s Office Repeat Offender Division.

In addition to his extensive trial experience, Rick serves as outside counsel for the lease administration group of a Fortune 100 company and is a member of the Florida litigation team for the largest publicly traded real estate company in North America. He advises clients on a diverse array of residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use projects, as well as litigation involving acquisitions, development, construction, leasing, environmental issues, eminent domain, and financial restructurings. Rick also works with the Government Affairs and Lobbying Section, helping clients advocate for their interests in Tallahassee by enhancing relationships with policymakers, monitoring legislative developments, and strategically communicating client positions to help shape public policy. Rick sees the world through intersectionalities and employs this vision, along with his gregarious nature, to advance equitable outcomes and address client concerns. As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator, he provides alternative dispute resolution services in commercial, business, real estate, and employment law matters.

Rick is a third-generation Jacksonville native and a trusted advisor for clients and colleagues alike. A natural collaborator and connector, Rick frequently teams with GrayRobinson colleagues in the corporate, real estate, and land use practices to provide comprehensive counsel for clients.
