Scott L. Cagan has been helping business clients formulate effective legal strategies to obtain favorable, cost-effective results for more than thirty years. An accomplished litigator, a significant portion of Scott’s practice is dedicated to resolving disputes between business partners, including shareholder and LLC member derivative actions, construction litigation, as well as counseling clients on risk mitigation and litigation avoidance.

Scott has extensive experience representing clients operating across a wide variety of sectors, including construction, commercial real estate, health care, hospitality, banking, and professional services. His clients include national financial institutions, preeminent law firms, luxury resort and hotel owners, prominent musicians, a professional sports franchise, and former professional athletes. He also frequently serves as co-counsel with out-of-state law firms.

Scott also advises clients in employment disputes, including claims involving non-competition and non-solicitation agreements and claims arising under Florida’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act, unfair competition law, and Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

Scott’s experience as a judicial clerk to the late Lenore C. Nesbitt, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida from 1988 through 1990, served as a foundation for his representation of clients in both federal and state courts and at the trial and appellate levels. Scott’s methodical approach emphasizes close client involvement to ensure clients’ business and legal objectives are aligned.

Consistently recognized as a top practitioner in the state by his peers, Scott teams with GrayRobinson colleagues in the corporate, health care, labor and employment, insurance defense, and real estate practice areas to provide comprehensive strategies for clients.
