Associate Training and Development
Associates at GrayRobinson choose a mentoring shareholder and are assigned a supervising shareholder within their practice area. The role of the mentoring and supervising shareholder is to oversee the associate's work, participate in the training of the associate and report to the Firm's directors on the associate's progress. Our objective in training associates is to foster development of not only professional skills, but to also further develop good judgment and client relationship skills. Associates are also encouraged to develop professionally and personally through public speaking, publishing opportunities and participation in community activities.
The Associate Training and Development Committee Chair supervises the bi-annual evaluation of associates. Shareholders provide written evaluation of associates' work product based on their level and frequency of contact with an associate. Associates are evaluated on several criteria which include: substantive skills, legal research, judgment, writing skills, work performance and initiative, client development and interpersonal skills.
In addition, the Committee conducts bi-monthly training sessions and seminars to provide associates with ongoing opportunities for development and professional growth.
