GrayRobinson Shareholder John Stewart Appointed to Florida Supreme Court Workgroup on the Role of the American Bar Association in Bar Admission Requirements

GrayRobinson is pleased to announce Shareholder John Stewart has been appointed to the Florida Supreme Court Workgroup on the Role of the American Bar Association in Bar Admission Requirements. This distinguished panel has been tasked with evaluating the current ABA accreditation requirement in the Bar admission rules and to propose possible alternatives to better align the licensing process with the evolving demands of the legal profession.

John brings extensive experience and insight to this workgroup. As a past president of The Florida Bar and a longtime advocate for innovation in the legal profession, Stewart’s appointment reflects his deep commitment to the future of legal education and attorney licensure in Florida. John has provided counsel to Florida clients and colleagues for over 25 years. A third-generation Florida lawyer, his statewide practice is centered around trust and estate litigation, mediation and arbitration, and high-stakes commercial disputes. 

The Florida Supreme Court formed this workgroup to assess the current Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar continued reliance on the ABA and whether changes to the rules are warranted for admission to The Florida Bar. The group will be guided in its study and deliberations by the goals of promoting excellence in Florida’s legal profession and providing high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative legal education and meeting Floridians’ need for legal services in light of Florida’s current regulatory structure.
