Karim Batista, a shareholder in the GrayRobinson Miami office, is a trusted advisor for clients navigating marital and family concerns. With his compassionate yet skillful approach and extensive experience in marital and family law, Karim assists clients in navigating complex issues related to divorce, child custody, alimony, and property division. He is committed to achieving the best possible outcome for his clients through negotiation or litigation, providing personalized guidance and support through every phase. His litigation practice focuses primarily on financial aspects, with niche experience representing athletes in family and matrimonial matters. Karim is also a certified mediator and uses his skill as an intermediary to help clients achieve points of solidarity throughout what can often be a contentious experience.

Prior to joining GrayRobinson, Karim established and successfully managed a private law firm for over a decade, focusing on family law, immigration law, and property settlements. In addition, he served as an adjunct professor for nearly five years at the Florida International University College of Law Clinical Program, assisting individuals who cannot afford representation or cannot otherwise represent themselves in court. He has spoken on marital and family law at numerous conferences throughout Miami-Dade County.

  • Notable Work
    • Third District Court of Appeals affirmed the lower court’s ruling that 61.13001 (relocation statute) did not require an automatic return of the minor child to their original home if there were “least disruptive means” to ensure that the non-relocating parent was given access to the minor child. 
    • Third District Court of Appeals found that the trial court erred when it determined that letters of correspondence was a “marital settlement agreement”. The Court ratified the notion that “letters of correspondences were merely an invitation to negotiate” and not a binding agreement.
